Abstract
Corruption crimes are among the issues that top public opinion in Iraq, because there is not a single day without community members circulating news about embezzlement of public money, or abuse of power in one of the official and semi-official institutions, not to mention the many cases under consideration in this regard by Courts specialized in cases of integrity and money laundering.And based on the principle of social solidarity against crime, the Iraqi legislator has embarked in more than one place of legislation to enact laws concerned with protecting those who deal with corruption crimes, so the Witnesses, Experts, Informants, and Victims Protection Law No. (58) of 2017 was enacted, as well as the amendment that occurred to the Penal Code by adding the paragraph ( 3) From Article (329), and despite these legal guarantees, many of those who witness corruption crimes because of or in connection with their work, They do not inform the competent authorities of the occurrence of these crimes, due to the power of the owners of these institutions, and the political and social support they enjoy, in addition to the fact that there are many informants who have been subjected to material and moral abuse as a result of this work, and others have died because of their resistance to the news.
